AN ACT DECLARING JANUARY 6 OF EVERY Y EAR A SPECIAL WORKING HOLIDAY IN QUEZON CITY, TO BE KNOWN AS "TANDANG SORA DAY", IN COMMEMORATION OF THE BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MECHORA AQUINO, ALSO KNOWN IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY AS THE "MOTHER OF THE KATIPUNAN"

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. January 6 of every year is hereby declared a special working holiday in Quezon City, to be known as "Tandang Sora Day", in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Mechora Aquino, also known in the Philippine history as the "Mother of the Katipunan". Upon proclamation of the President, January of every year shall be a special non-working holiday in Quezon City in commemoration of the said anniversary.

Section 2. This Act shall take effect after fifteen (15) days following the completion of its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.

This Act, which originated in the House of Representatives, was passed by the House of Representatives on November 21, 2022, amended by the Senate of the Philippines on December 17, 2024, and which amendments were concurred in by the House of Representatives on January 28, 2025.
